Using Out-of-Network Benefits

The Art of Healing is considered an out-of-network provider for all other behavioral health plans. Please contact your insurance company directly to determine whether your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits.

Clients who choose to use out-of-network benefits are responsible for paying the full session fee at the time of service. We can provide a superbill containing the information needed for you to submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance company.

Reimbursement is determined by your insurance plan and is not guaranteed.

Insurance does not typically cover fees related to:

  • Missed appointments or late cancellations

  • Assessment instruments

  • Reports or other written correspondence

  • Time spent outside of scheduled sessions

  • Telephone or email consultations

Please contact your insurance provider to determine which services and expenses are covered under your plan.

  • Flexible Spending Account cards

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimates

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your mental health care.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, healthcare providers and facilities are required to inform individuals who are uninsured or who do not plan to submit claims to their insurance about their right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected healthcare charges.

Patients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use insurance are entitled to receive an estimate of the expected charges for medical and mental health services, including psychotherapy.

You may request a Good Faith Estimate from your provider before scheduling a service. The estimate will include the expected total cost of non-emergency services.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute the bill. Please keep a copy or photograph of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

For additional information about your right to receive a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-368-1019.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Please notify your therapist as early as possible about planned events, emergencies, vacations, school activities, or other scheduling changes.

When at least 48 hours’ notice is provided and rescheduling is not possible, the cancellation fee may be waived.

Making Up a Canceled Appointment

You may have the option to make up a canceled appointment during the week before, the week of, or the week after your absence, depending on therapist availability.

We will make every reasonable effort to find an alternative appointment time, but availability cannot be guaranteed.

Free Cancellation

Clients receive one free late cancellation or missed appointment per calendar year for each regularly scheduled weekly session.

For example, a client who attends therapy once per week receives one free cancellation per year. This free cancellation may be used when 48 hours’ notice is not provided or when an appointment canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be rescheduled.

Rescheduling

At least 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule an appointment. When less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, the client may be responsible for the full session fee, and rescheduling may not be available.

This policy is intended to balance flexibility with accountability while supporting the consistency and commitment that contribute to effective therapeutic work. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
